Tutorial: Thermistor temperature measurement

This tutorial is about measuring temperature using thermistors. It gives you some general theory and then goes into a detailed description of implementing actual measurements using SPLat boards. There is some maths involved, but we have reduced this to a simple procedure with the assistance of an Excel spreadsheet.

Several SPLat products include the ability to measure temperature using low cost thermistors. The scheme we have evolved uses extremely simple circuitry to produce results of modest resolution and accuracy. There are many applications where very high accuracy is not required. In other applications, the temperature range of interest is narrow. In those case, the methods presented here allow the measurement setup to be tweaked for good results, with resolutions down to 0.2°C.
