UV SPice

The UV SPice model is a hybrid of the Touch of SPice plug-on hardware and onboard SPx peripheral. It allows a plug-in board to be designed that doesn't have a processor but is programmed using the UV model.

This would be used where we need fairly simple hardware but complex Firmware and a sophisticated programming interface. It would typically be used in a custom SPLat where an optional add-on is required, because it needs a device-specific driver in the controller's firmware.

It may not always be possible with such a board to provide an "Are you there" response, because the SPLat processor may have no way of knowing if the add-on board is present.
