reFlash: What do I need to update a board?
To update the operating Firmware in a SPLat board via reFlash, you need a number of things:
- The board, which must be one that can be reFlashed. When you connect to a board in the SPLat/PC Module window, if the indicator [R] is displayed then the board is reFlashable. This applies to SPLat/PC version 6.10.1 or later (earlier versions cannot detect reFlashable boards). The individual product documentation for the board will also reveal if it is reFlashable.
- The updated firmware. This is in a file with the .rfl extension, and a filename that encodes the board type and firmware revision, for example "MMi99V3-7.rfl". Firmware upgrade files are available on our website. To access a file locate the "Firmware versions history" section for your board in the SPLat Knowledge Base (SKB). Preferably use the online version, as it is the most up to date. In that section you will find a table of versions with hotlinks to the files. You will also find the files in the reFlash folder on the resources CD shipped with all SPLat controllers in the Developer's Kit (DK) package.
- The reFlash utility program installed in your computer. You can find it in the downloads section of our website. You will also find it in the reFlash folder on the resources CD shipped with all SPLat controllers in the Developer's Kit (DK) package.
- A regular connection cable and a regular power supply for the board, just like you use for SPLatWare development.
